Enflight is a weather briefing product I encountered while wandering the grounds at AirVenture in Oshkosh. It provides a front end user interface to DUATs so that you get a legal FAA briefing. It’s unique in that it lets you enter your personal minimums and then analyzes your briefing according to those minimums. Color codes are used that let you quickly spot conditions that approach or exceed your minimums.
A sectional map presentation shows your route of flight and uses an innovative colored spiral at airports with Forecast (TAF) information to indicate how conditions compare with your personal minimums throughout the 24 hour forecast period. Enflight also helps you easily spot cheap fuel prices, using numbers 1 through 5 to indicate inexpensive fuel versus expensive fuel.
Enflight can print sectional charts and approach plates. You can also use it to download your flight plan directly to a portable GPS.
The software operates using your computer’s web browser. You can also download an app and run it on mobile devices like the iPhone and iPad.
Enflight sells for $199.95 per year and has monthly pricing and a 30-day free trial. As of this morning, their web site was still offering a highly discounted “Oshkosh special price.” You can find full details at www.enflight.com.
