Free flight training in a used Cirrus? Yes, the Cirrus Embark program does just that. It provides free flight training for recent buyers of used Cirrus aircraft, such as the SR20 and SR22. This is big news; I don’t recall any manufacturer of any aircraft type paying for training for buyers of their used aircraft. And we talk about it in detail on the AviationNewsTalk.com podcast. By the way, I help people around the world who are thinking of buying a Cirrus SR22 or Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet, so if you like my inputs, please contact me as early in your decision making process as possible, so that I can provide you the most assistance. You can phone me at 650-967-2500, or send me an email.
Here’s an example. Earlier this year, I flew this lovely used Cirrus SR20 from Kansas to Albany, NY with its new owner. He of course paid for my time to complete his transition training in the aircraft. Now, under the new Cirrus Embark program announced at AirVenture last week, he can get up to three days of free flight training paid for by Cirrus Aircraft! In this case, the new owner would still have had to pay for my airline ticket to get to Kansas, and for my hotel and food. But Cirrus would have paid for my time!
Of course the training would be completely free to a new buyer if the training were performed at my home airport of Palo Alto, CA. And that’s exactly what I’ll be doing soon with a new SR20 owner, who already has the aircraft at Palo Alto, but hasn’t yet started transition training in the plane.
On this week’s episode of the Aviation News Talk podcast, I talk with Ivy McIver, SR Product Line Manager at Cirrus Aircraft to talk about the Embark program that pays for the free flight training. For example, I wanted to know why Cirrus is making this bold move. We talk about who qualifies for the free training, which is anyone who’s purchased a used Cirrus in the last 30 days. We also talk about the other items that our bundled into the free package, like POHs, a Flight Operations Manual app, and free one-year membership in COPA, the Cirrus Owner Pilots Association.
I specialize in the Cirrus, and will be delivering some of this training to people buying used Cirrus Aircraft. If after you listen to the podcast I can be of any help to you as you work through the decision process on whether to buy a new or used Cirrus, please email me now. In the meantime, fly safely and keep the blue side up!
