No, I didn't buy a new Cirrus last week, but it felt like I did! The experience was awesome, and I wanted to share it with others, so I recorded an interview with the pilot who accompanied me on the trip. He's thinking of buying a new Cirrus, and I brought him along so that he could enjoy the "Cirrus Experience," and so that I would have company on the long flight back to California. I do a lot of work with people buying new or used Cirrus aircraft, and generally a buyer goes to the Cirrus delivery center in Knoxville, TN to pick up their new plane. But in this case, the buyer was unavailable to make the trip, and he asked me to accept delivery of a new Cirrus SR22T on his behalf and then fly the aircraft back to the S.F. Bay Area. I feel it's safer to have two pilots, especially for longer trips, which is why I invited Chuck to join me. Together we flew nearly 2,000 nautical miles in a day and a half, dodging snow and ice on the return trip to San Jose, California.
The hour long interview starts by talking about the things that Cirrus does to create a memorable experience for buyers. For example, that's the Cirrus CEO and the Cirrus President greeting us in the photo! And then we talk about the details of flying the aircraft back home under some challenging circumstances.
